The Spotlight search tool gets a major upgrade. Users can also group apps together in clusters if you are working on a project that requires hopping between several apps. The other open apps are off to the side to presumably provide less distraction. Ventura, the name of the new macOS, will include Stage Manager, a feature that will let Mac users focus on the app they're using without the clutter. Macs are getting a cool new upgrade, too. With a Passkey, you can sign up or log in to a service just using the iPhone. Passkeys can't be leaked or compromised, Apple said. Apple's plan to ditch passwordsĪpple introduced Passkeys, which leverages Touch ID or Face ID to create a unique key for a service. Another incredible feature: the ability to use your iPhone as a really fancy webcam. It's called Continuity Camera. If you're near a Mac, it will alert you asking whether you want to continue your call on the Mac. Let's say you start a call on the iPhone. The latest fun way to use it: FaceTime calls. Handing off a FaceTime call?Īpple fans are aware of the ways you can transition between your iPhone and Mac. Other users can then join the collaboration to start working on a document. The weather app receives some important visual upgrades, a collaboration feature to more easily work together and share information within apps like Messages. It's now the iPad's turn, which is also going to get a big update this fall. It looks like a more sophisticated Notes app, where users can drop in notes, photos or whatever digital materials on the whiteboard. The iPad will soon add a Freeform app, which essentially creates a whiteboard for when you want to work together with others during, for example, a FaceTime call. Recent apps appear on the left, which apps in the dock along the bottom remain available. The Stage Manager feature for Macs will also appear on the iPad. There will be a new display scaling setting, to adjust the size of an app's view when multitasking or using the split-screen feature.
